Malaysian PM to Attend Ramadan Iftar Dinner in Cambodia with PM Hun Sen

PHNOM PENH: The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar bin Ibrahim, is set to join the National Ramadan Iftar Dinner of 2023 in Cambodia, along with Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Prime Minister Hun Sen announced through his official Facebook page on Wednesday night, 22 March 2023, that the Malaysian Prime Minister will be among over 500 foreign guests, based both in the country and abroad, expected to join the 7th National Ramadan Iftar Dinner of 2023 in Cambodia.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is observed by Muslims all across the world as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. This year Ramadan begins on Thursday, 23 March, and will last until 21 April, based on the sighting of one crescent moon to the next.

The Prime Minister and First Lady have congratulated and extended their best wishes to all Muslim communities in Cambodia and across the world for this year’s Ramadan.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Cambodian Muslims who have contributed to maintaining peace, national and religious harmony, and have had faith in my leadership and the Cambodian People's Party," the Prime Minister wrote in his Facebook post.

For three years, the Royal Government was unable to host the National Ramadan Iftar Dinner due to the Covid-19 pandemic. More than 6,100 participants are expected to attend the 7th edition of the special dinner celebration this year.
